Wandercraft’s Personal Exoskeleton Honored as SXSW Innovation Award Finalist

New York, NY (January 23, 2025) – Wandercraft is excited to announce its selection as a finalist for the 2025 South by Southwest (SXSW) Innovation Awards in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) category. This prestigious recognition highlights Wandercraft’s pioneering Personal Exoskeleton, a first-of-its-kind device positioned to transform mobility for individuals with severe walking impairments.

The SXSW Innovation Awards honor groundbreaking ideas and technological advancements that push the boundaries of possibility. Wandercraft’s Personal Exoskeleton exemplifies this spirit by offering a potentially life-changing solution for those who have lost the ability to walk.

“This recognition from SXSW underscores how physical AI is redefining mobility and robotics as a whole.” said Matthieu Masselin, CEO of Wandercraft. “Embedding real-time intelligence into systems that seamlessly interact with their environments is what physical AI is all about. We envision a future where robotics and AI go beyond automation or intelligent assistants to truly empower people in the real world.”

Designed for individuals with spinal cord injuries, stroke, and neuromuscular disorders, the Personal Exoskeleton leverages AI to continuously adapt to users’ real-time movements. This helps to ensure a smooth, stable walking experience across indoor and outdoor terrains, including on uneven surfaces.

Wandercraft does this by harnessing billions of simulations that will enable users regain the ability to walk, balance, and engage with their environment in ways once thought impossible. This application of AI has the potential to create new found opportunities for walking mobility in homes, workplaces, and communities of wheelchair users around the world.

Beyond its technological advancements, the device is built to restore the simple joys of life—standing eye-to-eye for a conversation, embracing loved ones while standing, or reaching for everyday items.

“The SXSW Innovation Awards celebrate transformative ideas, and we are proud to be among the finalists redefining technology’s role in society,” added Masselin. “This recognition is a tribute to our team’s dedication to harnessing the computational power of physical AI for good and creating solutions that truly matter.”

This announcement comes off the back of recognition from NVIDIA at CES 2025, where Wandercraft was highlighted as a key ecosystem member in the opening keynote by CEO Jensen Huang.

The winners of the 25th annual SXSW Innovation Awards will be announced at a ceremony on Monday, March 10, 2025.
